Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

Dedicated lens hoods are designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.

Isabella ★★★★★

Putting this on my 50mm, the extra shade really cut down flare on a sunny day walk. Fits snug and doesn't wobble at all, feels solid.

Sofia E. ★★★★★

The bayonet mount clicks on perfectly snug, no wobble at all. I noticed right away how much it cut the glare when shooting toward a bright window.

Olivia ★★★★★

Finally got around to testing this hood against bright window light and it cut the flare completely. Snaps on with a bayonet mount that feels solid, no wobble at all.
